Oooh, I might hop in on this one. There are LOTS of cool Asian dollar stores around me, and I'm pretty sure there's a Dollarama around here somewhere...

And here I am, spoiling the party with questions...

How much of the crafted item has to be from a dollar store?

Say I want to make an ADJECTIVE NOUN where the ADJECTIVE part is the most obvious, and will be made of things that I already have at home, but the NOUN part is hidden, yet essential to its being, and that NOUN part is what I buy from the dollar store.

Is that allowable?

Not spoiling at all!

Most of the items should be purchased from the dollar store.  Traditional craft supplies such as glue, thread, etc. can be from your stash. Smiley

Ooh, I'm so happy I noticed this!  I may decide to enter this, I've never done one before but this sounds like too much fun!  Does it have to be from a dollar store, or do thrift stores and secondhand shops count as well?

It has to be a dollar store. We've had other contests that involve thrift stores and there may be more of those in the future. But this one has to be a dollar store. Smiley

My subscription to Craft just ran out, so I am going to be all over this like a grandma at a dollar store (except I'm not a grandma, or even a ma, but I'm on it!)  Grin

What a fun challenge!!  I make centerpieces every year for a large dinner event (40 to 60 centerpieces) and last year, each centerpiece cost me $1.66.  And every single one vanished as folks walked out.  Which is fine with me since I'd HATE to store that many.

And all my other crafting deadlines will be over in tine to work on this!

I'd love to do this but there aren't any dollar stores near my are, would the dollar section of target count, or perhaps walmart?
