I took a three-hour course at a local stained glass supply store and learned the basics. I was sent home with a very simple project to complete, but I decided to go my own way and create my own design.

I think I like it better on this side:

Hey, it's not perfect, but it's a start! This is a lot of fun! But I did manage to burn my finger with the soldering iron Roll Eyes and a couple of tiny cuts here and there. When I get polished enough at this, there is a vertical window by my door where I would love to display a long whimsical piece. Someday...

I like it!
I know it's freeform but it looks like a landscape to me. Very nice.

That's awesome! My mom did stained glass when I was little, she always said I should get into it. You may have just inspired me.

That is just gorgeous!  I really want to take a stained glass class as well.  It is something that really fascinates me! I don't think I have ever seen a stained glass piece that I didn't like - it's all just gorgeous - I love your design with this piece.  It is just so sharp!

Thank you for the nice feedback!  Smiley
That's really cool that my piece inspired some of you to learn this! Still a newbie at this and studying several books. So much more to learn.

I highly recommend taking a class first because glass breaking and cutting can be dangerous. But after you know the basics and safety, you can go anywhere you want with it. Have fun!
