So, I bought some of that super soft "oh My" yarn at my LYS.   I just can't think of a design or pattern to knit for a baby blanket.  I have like 5-6 baby pattern books and nothing looks "right"!  I bought 5 blue and 2 yellow.....who knows how I came up with the numbers.

I'm looking for some suggestions.  I want easy but not boring....no seaming up squares   Shocked

Anyone have any ideas?   Pretty please.....I desparately need your help!

Thanks,
Kelly

Ripples are fun, but they tend to have a lot of counting (watching tv/reading while counting isn't something I've mastered...yet!  Cheesy). Here's a list of a few I've had in my favorites for a while:

How about the look of squares without the seaming? --> http://home.howstuffworks.com/free-knitting-patterns-for-baby-blankets2.htm I think it would look nice in blue.

Something a little more sophisticated? --> http://www.nancyhearne.com/drawingboard/cableblanket.htm Lots o' cables on this one!

Classic --> http://majorknitter.typepad.com/photos/patterns/oh_so_soft_baby_blanket.html. This is one of my favorites, I just haven't found the right person to gift it to, yet.

A standard dishcloth pattern works up quick and looks nice in stripes --> http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/khs-diagonalBabyBlanket.html It's not as boring as it sounds.

Quilt style? --> http://fireflowerknits.wordpress.com/2007/08/14/tilting-at-windmills-baby-blanket-pattern/

Lots o' Teddy Bears? --> http://www.straw.com/cpy/patterns/baby-child/merino5-bear-baby-blankt.html Personally, I think this one is a little much, but you could always take it down a notch, say maybe one teddy in each corner, so it's 4 rather than 9?

I think searching through some of your favorite stitch dictonaries, or even looking at some online could give you some great ideas, too. I think the dishcloth pattern or the first link I posted is your best bet. Good luck!

A walk-in closet full of yarn isn't TOO much...

I really like the "Diamond and Smocked Baby Blanket"

You may need to get more yarn anyway, but maybe the color you got less of could make up the border and the other color make up the main body.
