On a diet pause, but still making the dresses

Wow! as others have said, your sewing looks perfect, but what I really want to congratulate you on is your choice of patterns. They are all chic and adorable, and that's saying something, because there are some really ugly patterns our there! You have great taste.

Y'know, since I started grad school I have packed on an extra ten unhealthy pounds that I am not too thrilled about. I've been making a slight (read: pathetic)  effort to get rid of 'em, but this is something I hadn't thought of: The Craftster Diet. Sewing as weight loss inspiration = awesome.

Go for it man.  It works for me.  But go small.  Like just one size down.  Going multiple sizes down I would think to be depressing instead of motivating.

I think the fabric choices come from not beingable to turn down something being cheap or discounted.  I then have to justify it to my husband so he'll continue to fund this hobby..job...whatev er it is.  I was just talkin to my sister about how the pattern companies using an ugly fabric or non-flattering fit on model can turn someone away from a pattern that has good potential.  Happens to me all the time.  Then I see something someone else made and I'm like, "they got the idea from THAT pattern?!"  Ok, that was off topic, but oh well.

Do you ever wear pants?

All of the time.  Jeans jeans and more jeans.  But I really like dresses and used to wear them all the time (when i was on the prowl. lol).  So, I'm just trynna bring a bit of that back.

I totally feel you on the wanting to pause thing. I've been losing weight for the past few months now. I've lost a little over 40 pounds, but I've still got another 30 to go. There are so many things I want to make but I keep putting them off, not wanting to spend time making something only to have it not fit later. I've decided to at least make a couple of skirts for the time being though!

And now after seeing your lovely dresses, I think I'm gonna get Vogue 8425!
