I was inspired by BlkRz's tie skirt  here http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=154765.0

Here is mine:

Of course, being twenty years older than BlkRz, and an apple instead of an hourglass, and lacking that celebrity diva vibe she has, I do not delude myself into thinking I rock the skirt like she does. However, it does make me feel special and talented and beautiful, and that's fine with me.  Cool

(In these pics I am also wearing my crocheted hat, which was made from a craftster's pattern; if you recognize it, give a shout out to its gifted creator  Kiss ; and my glass marble pendant, which we all know was inspired by Craftsters. Smiley Come to think  of it, I'm also wearing my Craftster-inspired panties, but we won't go there!  Shocked )

The skirt consists of twenty-five ties, the remains of my favorite pair of jeans -- the ones with the copper Oriental dragon stenciled from the right thigh down to the ankle (yup... another Craftster inpiration!)-- which were beyond wearing in decent company.  Cry You can see in one of the pics that I added a black lining for modesty's sake, and my dh's.  Cheesy

Now.......
What to do with all those decapitated neckties??  Huh

That is pretty awesome. I was thrifting today looking at all the fantastic ties. I have some now and I have been thinking of what to do with them for ages. I think I will have to start working on it. I love the idea. Smiley

Looks to me like you're rockin' it hard!  This "apple" may just take inspiration from you, I've stopped wearing really fun stuff and you make it look so easy!

Thanks, everyone!

Grendelsmom -- NEVER stop wearing the fun stuff!! I refuse to wait until I lose weight to start living. (Actually, I think the living is the part that helps control the weight!) I'm forty-two, so I think I'm old enough to tell you gals-- not doing stuff because of your size is a wasted way to live. Don't fall into that trap!

Love it! You're right, blkrz absolutely -owns- reconned ties, but I think yours looks wonderful, and I think tights make it look more urban and polished than without.

Why doesn't evolution work with embroidery kits?

Sassy!!!  Very awesome take on the necktie skirt!  I might do this way instead of the entire tie/hippie skirt thing..... if I can pry the ugly ties away from hubby!  I bought him some awesome and fun ties that are waaaay better than the poly striped crapola he had in his dresser!  At Thinkgeek.com they have some fun ties, one says 'Ties Suck' in binary!  Another has power button symbols on it, it's a 'power tie'!! I got him that one, very kewl, and one at Ross that looks like computery bits in shades of grey, very uber!

If I was a guy, or had the guts, I would rock a tie every day!

You DO rock the tie skirt, especially with the black tights and boots! Great job!
