hey Bostonians-
I've been to several thrift stores in the area, and found cool stuff, but never what I really want to find: knitting stuff!

so my question: anyone know of a thrift store that seems to have yarn or knitting needles, etc on a regular basis (b/c who knows when I'll get there) I'd love to find some cheap yarn and always need more needles!

Thanks!

I am in the boston area too, but have not had much luck finding knitting stuff in thrift stores.  I have had some luck with knitting "lots" on ebay.  Sometimes people sell a "lot" or group of needles or yarn..like if they are cleaning out their grandma's stash or something.  You can try that, the prices are usually decent too.

I see yarn every once in a while at the goodwill in central square, but it's always in a random weird spot, never in the same place twice. The Hadassah thrift shop in Allston occasionally has yarn too.

Thanks for the out of town offer, but I'm not really desperate, I enjoy the hunt most of all!

I hit the Central Sq stores again this week- no yarn at Goodwill or Salvation Army... but I did get more yarn on sale from Artists and Craftmans Supply! yay!

I've been to the Hadassa Store once, and didn't find yarn, but I'll have to try it again.  Do you remember where in the store you saw the yarn?  it's a big place!
Thanks!

I'm not sure exactly where I found it, but I think it was in the purse/shoe area. They tend to tuck little things in baskets and you have to dig through them!

Oh, I forgot to post this last time, the Hadassah store usually has knitting needles too, up near the front counter.

I found lots of yarn at Urban Renewals in Allston, near Harvard/Brighton Ave. There were bundles of yarn in bags on the wall shelves back near the men's clothing. Some macrame and other crafty stuff too!
