i have a singer that i bought at walmart - but it has an attachment that you put on, put the button in it. and it'll do the button hole to match the button.

is that what you were asking?

Okay, I have to ask...your machine does BUTTONS?! What kind of machine is it??

ahem...and I was a topless mom too...

It's a Viking Platinum 775.  But I think a lot of machines do buttons?  Of course, this only works with the sewthrough type, whether 2 or four holes.  The shank type button has to be attached by hand.

Also, it has the buttonhole maker, where you program the size of the button and the type of buttonhole, and then it makes what you specify.  I love this machine.

I have a New Home...it makes straight lines and zig zags Smiley

I've been looking at a Brother, but been putting off. I loves me the thought of not hand sewing buttons!

I also loves me some whiskey...if that helps sunspotted!

I love my Brother!!  I did most of my learning on the Walmart Brother machine and moved up from there.  I moved away from the Brother and used Kenmore and Juki.  Then my Juki crapped out and I had the hardest time finding someone to fix it.  Even after I found a guy who was an expert with the industrial Juki's (Juki only makes the industrials now) he still couldn't get parts for it.  He had to get "compatiable" parts and it just didn't work.  Then I let my sewing machine store show me the new Brother they got in (which is the same model they are using on Project Runway) and I fell in love.  I don't think I will have a problem ever finding parts for a Brother.

I had a New Home also that was basic like yours.  But unfortunately it broke and I could get a whole new machine for what the shop wanted to charge me to fix it.   My fave machine is my MIL 30+ year old Kenmore.  That thing is a tank!

Oh, I am a nursing mom with 2 tattoos, don't do the whiskey though, sorry!   Although my stepdad tells that his ex (who's a midwife) swears that whiskey makes better milk!  He said she used to have a shot or two and then pump while nursing their 3 kids...   Shocked

My mom told me that her doc told her to have a glass of wine to relax before nursing...I think it also helps to stay well hydrated and stress-free if you want to produce lots of milk.

I've been told to have a dark malt beer to help with supply.  I think that once little Troy is born I might have to see if that works.  I've also heard the red wine thing too.
