My daughter's music teacher just had her second baby and she had admired another blanket I was crocheting during my daughter's drum lessons (you have to do something to take your mind off the noise, right?!)

When I found out she was preggers, I wanted to make her something for the baby that incorporated some of the same colors.  Voila, on Ravelry, the perfect pattern: 'Babette', by Interweave.

I corcheted it out of Lion Brand Cotton Ease because 1) he's a summer baby, and 2) it's a pretty easy wash and 3) the original pattern calls for Koigu, which is definitely NOT in my budget.

So, I made about 2/3 of the pattern to shrink it down to baby size.  The colors aren't true in this picture, but they look really nice in real life:

Thanks for looking!

Very fun! I love the Babette pattern, and what a pretty summery version! I'm sure the music teacher will love it!

Thank you so much for the kind words...I'm not as confident about my crocheting skills as I am about my knitting, but I'm happy with the way this turned out Smiley

gnathalie,  I used mattress stitch to sew the squares together.  It's pretty easy once you get the hang of it.  It definitely helps to have Chibis, or some sort of darning needle that's bent at the tip to help pick up the stitches.

I love the blanket. The colors are great. It's nice to see a non-traditional blanket (not pastel pink or blue).
