I'm a newbie to the embroidery game, and I want to embroider on some bibs and onesies, but don't want to go hog wild with the supplies.

I'm having a really hard time figuring out what Stabilizers to use?   I need to be washable and soft on the baby's skin.

Anyway, what basic supplies would I need to embroider the onesies and bibs?  Help?

first find a project, then buy the things you need for it. and you could ask the store's salesperson what you are going to need. to avoid hording things you don't need, this tactic is best: you only buy things you use.

i think you only need the machine, a hoop, stabilizer (depends on what you're doing, i've only needed a tear-off stabilizer and a wash off stabilizer), needles (fresh, and preferably for embroidering. the difference is the size of the eye of the needle), upper thread (the one that goes on top, the one that will show), special bobbin thread (it's not as thick as sewing thread) and a picture of what you are doing. then i think you're all set. i'm of course thinking that you already own a pair of scissors and the stuff you're embroidering onto and so on, the same supplies when sewing.

happy embroidering!
