Hi!  This is my first post here in this section, and am kinda new to sewing!  I am a nanny, and a strict vegetarian, and the little boy I nanny for wears those robeez shoes, made of leather.  That grosses me out, so I thought I'd make these for him instead!  Tell me what you think!

Please excuse the cat hair, my cat seems to be molting...

Thanks

I did not even notice the cat hair untill you mentioned it.....I was amazed by these cute baby shoes. I would also like to know where you got the pattern from.....as this would be my next project.

Good job!!! Very neat.

Those look really good, and more comfy for little feet than leather.  Don't worry about the cat hair, I can find some in every pic I take!

Thanks for all the kind words!  I think they're rather cute!  I looked at a few of the patterns that Honeypie posted.  I didn't really like most of them, because the sole was shaped quite oddly, so I traced around his foot instead (which was very difficult), and then guessed at the rest basically based on the patterns that I saw.

They didn't take very long, either.  A great evening project if you don't screw up and sew it together wrong like I did...

They look fantastic!!! I love the idea of making them without using leather.  What type of material did you use if you don't mind me asking?

Thank you.  I used fabrics from the bargain fabrics at JoAnne's.  The top is made from a canvas like material, but a little softer, and the sole from a polyester micro"suede".  I am giving them to him today, so I hope they fit!  I got a week vacation (UNpaid!) because they went back to Mexico for the week (where his mom is from).  I loved the vacation time, though, because I got to get a lot of sewing projects done!
