My friend runs a foundation (emmazinggracefoundation.org)that donates clothing to people that have preemies in the hospital or burial items for ones that have passed. She also helps people pay for the grave markers if needed. I sew things for her ebery now and then and I think this came out the best so far. Its a burial gown and bonnet. Its sad but Im glad I can help her. Amy

Anyone wanna help a good cause and buy a sonography class cookbook so I can go to a seminar in September? They are $15 alone, and $20 with handmade potholders. PM me!

Oh its precious! Such a sad thing to craft for but it warms your heart to know someone else cares too.

My oldest daughter was a preemie. She was born at 24 weeks, weighing 1 lb 8 oz. She didn't have any clothes at all for a long time, just a tiny diaper and wires. All of the clothes she had until she was about 5 lbs were made by volunteers specially for these little ones, it was so great to see her dressed!

We are very fortunate, and she is fine now (she's 12), but I saw a lot of babies die while we were in the NICU. If no one makes clothes for them to be buried in, they have to wrap them in a hospital blanket.  Cry Thank you for doing this, it will make a big difference to someone.

Beautiful dress and bonnet; it's kind of sweet that people (such as your wonderful self) are willing to help out.

Oh, it's just kittens.

I want to leave this world the way I came into it:  naked, screaming, and covered in someone else's blood.

Wow, such a sad story for a beautiful item but im glad there are people out there who care enough to do thoughtful things like this.

Had a look at the website and although im not a knitter my mum is, so i may take a look into donating items she makes to our local maternity hospital.

I think you should post this in the kids clothing thread, it is very inspirational and maybe it'll motivate more people to volunteer, and with the talent the people in craftster have, I'm sure they could come up with wonderful things!
Great work! And as soon as I learn to sew better I will do my best to find somewhere to volunteer aswell!

Invite me for swaps!! I'd love to!

It's really a pretty dress and bonnet. It's so sad that it's for burial. Cry But it is really a good deed to do, because some people don't really care.

They are really gorgeous, it's so sad when things like that happen. My aunt had baby twins born around 24 weeks (if I remember correctly) last year, it was heartbreaking seeing my aunt and uncle at their funeral after they sadly passed.
I aggree this is really inspirational Smiley
