Using the tute from http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=104089.0 I used some stretch poly knit? fabric I got from the 1 table at the local overpriced fabric shop.

(closeup of the super bargain fabric)

It took me less than twenty minutes to make, I decided on the asymetric skirt rather than the round one. I made the waistband a bit longer so it could be used to cover my boobs better when worn higher up.

Im really proud of it, but with me being pear shaped it makes me look huge and highlights my hips (Im only weenie!).  Sad
I'll be putting this in the 'disaster box' to be used in future crafting efforts.

Too bad it's going in the disaster box... the pattern itself is great, but I'd love to see it on you. Isn't such a dress supposed to emphasize the hips, and by that turn the focus to the waist and celebrate the femininity? Be proud of being a pear!  Wink

Have you tried wearing it a few different ways to see if any look better?  Also I've found that asymetrical hems have a tendency to emphasize the hips, at least on me.  But, even if nothing works for it, at least it was cheap.  Undecided

For some reason I cant get a pic that shows how hippy I look in real life! This is the best pic, even if I do look rather short!

i think that dress isn't a bad one- pattern wise- the color is not a good one for you - if you made that in a lighter weight fabric in a jewel tone green, i think you would look super great!

cheers!

I think perhaps your perception of your hippiness is overblown.
I think the dress if anything diminishes the hip area. in fact it is my favorite shape to wear  [I am hippy myself].

I think the hem drags you down and should be trimmed, but overall it looks great!

The picture shows what it looks like! Cheesy  It's not like your camera is Photoshopping the picture as you take it.  It looks GREAT on you!

If I did have an automatic photoshopping camera Id be a very happy girl!
My plan of action is to shorten the hem and wear it with high heels!
