ok  so I got this free backpack from a drug company but it had the drug name written HUGE on it. So I embroidered a sea dragon to cover it up! In case you can't tell, there is some metallic silver thread worked in around the eye and elsewhere.  enjoy!

That's such a great idea it never dawned on me to cover it up. Your sea dragon looks great. Did you freehand it?

I love the design AND the idea.  I am always getting branded bags like this from job fairs - I love the idea of re-inventing them.

Thanks everyone! Comments are so uplifting!  I transfered the design from a coloring book onto the fabric and subtracted a few details that I didn't feel like including (i.e. details that would be hard to embroider). I started out with a green color scheme but wasn't happy with how it looked and cut it out and used purples instead. ( Most of my color combinations are based solely on the random floss I have sitting around).

p.s. I bought a "One Step Transfer Pen" by EZ Craft&Sew to use for this project. It is supposed to intentionally bleed through paper so you can trace a design on paper with the fabric underneath and then have a pattern to stitch over (no ironing). I don't think it was worth the $$ because I practically had to go over the design 50 times to get it to bleed through. In the end I used Aunt Martha's red transfer pencil.

If I had a hammer, I'd cover it with glitter.

Sea dragons most definitely trump drug companies.
