so i saw some purses at the hirshorn museum of contemporary art in dc. they were made out of seatbelts. i was like dude, i could so do that. so i went to the junkyard and cut myself out some seatbelts. (practically risked my life too. circle auto reycling isn't in the best part of town. theres some scary/sketchy folks there) anyways. after making one, i had some friends beg for their own. my friend who works in a body shop was like dude, come cut the seatbelts out of old police cars. the purses turned out awesome. they are like unbreakable. and very durable and don't show dirt. one of my favorite parts is how much they can hold. i can put everything in them!!!! and here, after my longwinded story... are my brainchildren.

its really closer to black than gray.

actually blue

the purses and a belt. which i wear like everyday.

the seatbelts looks really shiny in these pictures. hm.

They look great!!! Was it hard to sew through the seatbelts? My sewing machine would probably catch on fire.

cool! I've seen woven seatbelt purses, but haven't seen them sewn like this before. Great job!

There are designer handbags (Harveys) made of seatbelts much smaller than yours that retail for over $200!

Fabulous job!

Are the seatbelts difficult to sew?
