Swap name: Postage Stamp Quilt Squares Swap
Craftster member who is organizing this swap: littlehajerika
Sign-up date range: Feb 24-Mar 1
Date to send item by: March 17

Limited to a certain number of people? (optional): YES, 24

Restricted to people who all live in the same country? NO

All ages allowed? YES, but under 18 only with parents permission.

Swap Organizer himself/herself meets these conditions:
- Has fully read the Swap Info Guide: YES
- Has successfully completed two swaps as a participant: YES
- Is not organizing more than three swaps right now: YES
- Will recruit a co-organizer or give all details to a Swap Moderator if this swap has more than 25 participants: YES

Swap Organizer will check each participant to make sure they meet these conditions:

- Has posted at least 15 times: YES
- Has completed one swap successfully before signing up for multiple swaps at a time: YES
- Is not currently signed up for more than five swaps: YES
- Does not have any negative feedback: YES

Details of swap:
This swap was inspired by Katxenas post about her postage stamp quilt, which can be seen here: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=206989.0

To enable more of us to start or finish these quilts, we are going on another round of swapping these squares. In this swap, participants will cut 20, 40 or 60 (1.5 x 1.5) squares to swap with each of the other participants. The number of squares you send depends on each swappers preferences. Basically, if both swappers want 20, both send 20. If both want 40, both send 40. But, if one wants 20 and the other 40, you both send 20. If many people join I will split people into smaller groups, but plan on sending to possibly 10 people.

Please be precise while cutting your fabric squares (they should measure 1.5 x 1.5), the best way is with a ruler/guide and rotary cutter. Please only send cotton quilting fabric, no velvet, jersey, etc. For this swap, preferences are only a guideline but please try to consider partners preferences and at least send a variety of colors and patterns.

Please maintain good communication with me through PMs and the swap thread and let the other participants know when you have sent to them.

Because of the large number of packages in the swap, I will not require Delivery Confirmation numbers, but if your package does not arrive, I expect you to send a second one. Also, please take a picture of your receipt.

Yep.......I'd say it would take a long time to get it done, but would be so worth it!!!  I'm seriously considering joining this swap, this will be my very first quilt.  It looks SOOOO easy, this will be a good one for a first-timer:))  Although will have to have alot of patience in seeing the finished product, lol.

It probably will take forever but this swap would be a great way to start collecting squares!

Yep........I'll probably be working on this quilt for the next 10 years, lol,  but SOOOO excited!!!  MY FIRST PROJECT!!!
Got a question for any of you savy quilters.  Which is the easiest and best to do.  Take these itsy bitsy squares and just start piecing them all together, or is it best to make piece them into 12" squares and then stitch these together?  Which way would look the best and be the easiest?

I haven't started this quilt yet, but I would assume it is probably easiest to do 12" or so squares and then sew all of those together, especially if you are doing a completely random pattern. If, like some people, you are planning to do a rainbow or quilt with a gradual color change, that may not work as well.

Also, the good thing about starting to collect squares for this quilt, is that it will take forever and you can start saving scraps from other projects too or collecting scraps from other people.

Just to clarify before I sign up- would we be expected to send 20, 40 or 60 squares of different fabrics, or can you send repeats in the same package- say 5 squares each of 12 fabrics to get 60 squares?

Emily

edited to add: d'oh!  Nevermind!  I somehow missed "For this swap, preferences are only a guideline but please try to consider partners preferences and at least send a variety of colors and patterns."

Got it... I'm signing up!

I am interested in personal supply swaps.  I have tons of fabric and scrapbooking supplies. I am interested in sewing notions and trim, especially any heirloom sewing supplies.  If anyone wants to trade a smocker/pleater for fabric or scrapbook stuff, I'm in! I'll also trade for things on my wist.
