It's been a while since I've done any sewing, but today I unpacked the sewing machine and set to work transforming a pair of well-worn jeans into dungarees for Ruben. These jeans were so so soft, but sadly had literally been worn to shreds in places. So I teamed them with some striped cotton print fabric - and now they have a new lease of life!

I have signed up for Wardrobe Refashion once again, and even though my pledge doesn't officially start until the 1st of March, I'll just call this a head start! There is something so massively satisfying about giving new life to an object that otherwise would have been binned.

I wrote out the tutorial for this on my blog, but it was a PITA to type so I hope it is OK that i link to that blog post? You will notice I messed up the turn ups a bit, sewing before thinking and then realising that there was of course a much easier way of doing it!!!  Roll Eyes i still wrote up my long-winded way though, as obviously I couldn't take new pics...

Adorable!  Your little boy's face is so cute too.  I have just the pair of jeans for this in my "scraps" bin.  I used the butt to make a dvd player holder for older DD for the car so the legs are still waiting and this outfit is perfect!  Thank you so much for the tute!

Thanks so much for the directions.  My youngest is a boy and is on the chunky side.  Right now, I am having a hard time finding him pants that fit his middle without being too long.  I was contemplating making pants myself, but I hadn't thought to use old jeans for the project.  What a great idea!
