Yeah, that's cool - I'd rather have one or two nicer (though not necessarily more expensive) things from Paris than a whole bunch of touristy stuff.  Anything from the US that fits in with the other stuff on my lists is fine.  Use your judgment, though - I'm ok with waiting for someone else to claim me too.  Whatever  Grin

wow that sounds like an awful lot of money, just in comission. are you sure you're not getting ripped off? sometimes it's best to take time to shop around a little, to amke sure you get the best rate.

i know if you withdraw from ATMs overseas they charge you the official rate plus a small foreign ATM fee of about $8 per withdrawal, so if withdraw in big chunks, you don't lose too much.

not sure about in the US, but in oz you can also order large amounts of foreign currency from the post office, for a smaller fee than most currency exchanges.

it's good to also ask any friends who have been overseas recently, if they will sell you left over currency, because they will get more if you buy it at the official rate, than if they try to sell it back to an exchange place.

ok, back to the swap now. sorry Tongue

I think that's just the going exchange rate for dollars to Euros! The Canadian dollar is almost at par with the US dollar right now, and that's the exchange rate I've been looking at. (The Euro is strong right now, and the dollar is weak).

But yes. It looks like she didn't claim... aeronberry is still open for claiming, whether from Jessica.Marie, or from anybody else!

Yep, as far as I know, she didn't claim me, but no worries.  Here's the link to my list, since it's kinda a ways back -

The weak dollar may be bad for you guys, but it's great for us brits! I'm saving my pennies to shop over there this summer, and get twice as much for my money!

yeah but 800 of x currency --> 400 Euros doesn't mean you lose 400 x currency, as the euro is worth more, hence it will go further.  the AUD is weaker than most major currencies, so i guess that's how it's been for me everywhere i've travelled.  like for example, a tshirt in australia might cost between 25 and 50$, but in germany most were between 12 to 25 euros.
