That first piece is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen on craftster. I'm totally blown away by it. You should be very proud!

Thanks everyone!  Happychick, I was kind of put off by quilting too before my mom started doing it and tried dyeing some fabric of her own.  Once I saw that she dyed fabric, then I was like, "Cool!  I don't have to use "traditional" quilt fabrics if I don't want to!  I'll just make some of my own!"

I'm fortunate enough, at least in this one way, to live in central Ohio, which hosts several big quilt events every year.  If you ever get a chance to go to any, especially anything that features quilts from around the world, I highly recommend that you give it a shot.  It is so inspiring to see what people are doing, and most of it is very non-traditional.  I still remember one I saw from South Africa a few years ago that incorporated sticks and small bones and mudcloth and stuff in it.  So cool!  I just love that such a "traditional" craft can be intrepreted in so many different ways.

Beautiful work!
I love the little red boat and the swirls in the sky.
Then the second one looks so traditional and the third one just pops! I'm a sucker for orange and blue and your combination is gorgeous.

The little red boat piece is just gorgeous, a real work of art. I'd love to own a piece just like this, I love it! And that you dye your own fabrics is also really great too. Well done, very, very, very beautiful work.

These are lovely - I've never done quilting in my life, but these are inspiring me to maybe have a go!  The red boat is lovely, and so is the last one - it looks like a mandala, and I just love mandala-type designs!
