I am making some fancy dresses for my girls this month and this is my first one finished.  Well, almost finished.  LOL  I just have to hem the lining skirt.  No biggie!  But I wanted to post the pics anyway.   Cheesy

The main color is not pink, as it looks in the pic.  It's a dusty lilac (if that makes sense) and the overlay/sheer is slightly purple w/ white polka dots.  It has a shimmery sheen to it.  I am happy with how it came out.  And I'll hem the last of it v. soon.  LOL  Oh, and I need to get a hook/eye above the zipper.

The Front:

The Back:

And a little idea of the sheen on the overlay/sheer part:

What do you think??    Grin

That's so pretty! My mom used to sew my sister and I dresses every Christmas, and it was one of the most exciting parts of the season. I'm sure your daughter will love it!

Beautiful. I think I'd add something around the neckline. Fabric flowers or some trim or something.

Thank you!

As for the neckline.....I know it looks plain but I thought I'd buy her a pretty necklace.  That will go a long way to sprucing up her neckline.   Yeah?  Smiley

Oh that is so pretty! I agree about the neckline but I love the idea of a necklace that way you aren't committed with what you put on the neckline also if you put something on the neckline a necklace would be too much...
I like it as is with the addition of a necklace Smiley

Hope that wasn't too confusing LOL

Okay so once again I am completely redoing my pictures. Got tired of photobucket, the only reason I used it was for here so I decided I will just use Craftster's photo uploader. So while I am switching over my photo links will be broken. Message me if there is a post you would like the pics for.

Thanks ladies! Cheesy

I just wanted to say that it's not actually brown.  The camera did nothing for capturing the true color.  It's actually purple.  Kind of a dark lilac.   I think next time I'll take a pic against something white instead of off white.  It may help keep the color tones more accurate.

Anyway.  Thanks for the compliments.  I am proud of myself.  In person it does look kind of store bought.  As long as you don't look too closely.  LOL

wonderful job! this dress is just lovely.
My daughter loves polka-dots and purple. I was thinking that maybe you could add one of these fabric flowers to the bodice, what do you think?
