I'm sorry if this has been asked, but I couldn't find it.  I am getting ready to start on my first embroidery projects and I'm looking for some really great fill stitches.  I know about satin stitch, but want some variety so that I can learn more.  Nothing too advanced since I am a newb, but any help would be great!  Thanks!

If you have the patience for it, split stitch looks great when used to fill in. You can also use chain stich or french knots done really close to one another.

Recently, I've become addicted to using seed stitch.

Here's a link to something I made, where I used  french knots, satin stich, split stitch and seed stitch to fill in (the bottom one):

These are great...thanks!  I'm going to try all of them.  The long and short looks like it could be good for blending too?  One thing I'm going to try is the Phish fish and I'm going to have to figure out blending by the time I get to that one.
