How do you hold the "tail"?

I'm a newbie in spinning, and I wanted some advice on how you hold the roving. I have no problem with holding the end of the roving to spin, and the pre-drafting part and all that, but I wonder where you keep the 'tail' of the roving?
I tried draping it over my arm, but it keeps on falling down and in the worst case, twisting around my spindle. How do you hold it?

When I was spindling, I would throw the roving over my shoulder.

You might want to look at a wrist distaff though.

Thanks for your advice. I had never heard of a wrist distaff, so I looked it up on google picktures and found a lot of different things. In one place, it's like a little bag on your wrist, and on another it looks like a spindle, but this one is used to keep the roving on. What works best for you?
I'm curious to hear what works best for other people around here who spin

If I have a long tail that is getting in my way alot, I tend to coil it around my wrist/arm like a snake, if that makes sense.

I've heard good things about the wrist distaff and have been meaning to try one, but I've never got around to it.

I throw it over my shoulder too. I suppose you could get a bag like a Starbucks style lunch bag, (that's what I use when I am crocheting and chasing my kids! )... you can get it over your wrist comfortably, and it's big enough to hold a lot of fiber...

Thanks for your comments! I think I might try to crochet a sort of wrist bag for this purpose.

On my spindles, I tend to just keep the length of roving short -- a foot or less. Then there's no boa to throw over my shoulder.  Never really got the hang of wrist distaffs, either, so I just decided to get good at doing joins  took a while, but I think I've got them down now!
