TUTORIAL: Make a Lined Zippered Pouch

not the best pictures (yay macbook photobooth!), but i made one last night to go with a tote bag i made about a month ago.  it was my first attempt at a zipper, and i'm pretty proud of how it turned out

Thanks so much for this tute e.r.i.k.a!  It is pretty straight forward, but I'm not very good at visuo-spatial stuff, so I really appreciated the step-by-step.  I'd never quite worked out which way to pin things together.  Now I want to make a million of them!

Umm... from my stash? Oh! Oh, you meant where I originally got it!

Er.... I think I got it from a local quilt store (in Berkeley California), but that doesn't help you... let me see if I have any selvage to look for the info...

Ah! Here it is. Of course it's fantastic -- it's Alexander Henry! It's called "Deco Dot II." Looking around the internet, I see it on eBay in red and green, but none of the pink.

If you're really interested, I can stop by that shop in the next week or so and see if they have any more... I think I saw the blue there (which I also have) recently. They might still have the pink!

I only screwed it up once.  When I stitched the side seams, I had the zipper mis-aligned and had to rip it out. Unfortunately, I had triple-stitched it for durability !

Thanks for such a great tutorial! Any mistakes that I made were purely my own fault...

e.r.i.ka., you are truly my hero!  your tutorial ROCKS!!!  I tried it out for the first time last night (also the first time i've EVER done anything involving a zipper!) and I made two pouches - 1 kind of iffy but useable and the other TOTALLY RAD!  (the moose one is the one w/ a few mistakes).  i couldn't figure out the zipper foot, but i managed to come up w/a way of wrangling my machine so i could get the zippers in cleanly without it.  Here are my bags!!:
