Here are the first things I've ever knitted.  I just taught myself in mid-December '04 and you guys have really inspired me.  I try to make each project a little harder than the last.  Although, nothing has really been hard thus far.. I try to up my skill with each project.

My first knit thing ever was the  Bernat Boa scarf in the color Ostrich to the left.  I didn't realize how hard I was making it on myself by using eyelash alone for my first project ever!  It was kinda nice though, it hid all the mistakes that I'm sure I made as I was learning.

The second knit thing was the scarf on the left.  I made it out of Wool-Ease Chunky in Charcoal for my husband.  I've since learned that stockinette curls, so I'll probably give this one to my dad.  My hubby hates the way that it curls and I can't blame him.  I'll do the middle stripes in 1x1 rib next time, and a seed stitch border instead of garter.

Here's a closeup:

The next scarf was made for my mom out of LB Homespun in Airdrondack (sp).  The colorway was perfect for her.  She loves the mauves, tans, and greens it has.  I did this one in moss stitch. She was at work, so this was a rushed shot.  I'll have to chase her down for a good closeup of the scarf.  The colors seem a little off on it.

This is a scarf, that is nearly finished, for my brother Ross.  It's  1x1 rib in his school colors.  The blue is LB Jiffy in Denim and the grey is Wool-Ease worsted in some grey.  I doubled up the grey to make it closer to the same gauge and I like that it stands out (kinda thicker).

Finally, here is my progress on my first ever sweater.  I'm doing the Hourglass sweater from Last minute knitted gifts.  This is a completed sleeve and the start of the torso.  I can't wait to finish up Ross' scarf so I can really get to work on this!

And just for fun.. a photo of the stash for the sweater.  I was So EXCITED when this came in the mail!!

Excellent, excellent, excellent.
I especially like your mother's scarf, the colors compliment her nicely.

I am looking forward to seeing your sweater completed, so knit away and congrats on  learning a new skill. Smiley

You are already starting on a sweater?  That is really impressive.  I've been knitting for a few YEARS and I just finished my first one a few weeks ago. I've just been really chicken about it.  Everytime I convince myself I'm going to start one, I always end up telling myself, "You know what I really need?  A scarf." or "I could really use scarf, but this time. . .with fringe, yeah!!"  So I congratulate you on your fast progess and courage.  Wonderful job on all of your projects.  Keep up the great work!!!
