I spent this afternoon drooling over items of steampunk-inspired fashion, and naturally desperate to make something for myself. However, having been a fan of the style for about six hours, I didn't really have anything to make it with to hand. So I present the only-very-slightly-steampunk cape! I was considering adding an appliqu - gears maybe? But it drapes so beautifully, and I didn't want to spoil that... and I do like it as it is, although I can't picture any situation in which I'd wear it!

I don't think you should feel compelled to add gears to it, to make it "more steampunk" or whatever.  I think it's nice.  And where to wear it, well, I have to say, that's my problem with most of the clothes I imagine - I can't figure where to wear them, because I never go anywhere!   Undecided

My advice is not to worry about where to wear it to but what to wear it with!!! Its a really nice cape!!  Enjoy it and wear it often!!   Grin

Lovely cape!  I'd (personally) wear it with dresses and skirts, especially in the early spring/late fall, when I still want to wear pretty sundresses, but it's a little chilly to go unprotected (heh).

Oh, it's just kittens.

I want to leave this world the way I came into it:  naked, screaming, and covered in someone else's blood.
