How about a 3-6 gallon rectangle fish tank with a lightbulb suspended in the centre? that would just be awesome.

I have a similar dillemma. I just got a lot of slides, too.  What is a the slide lamp tutorial?  Sorry if this is dumb, but I am new to Craftster.  Smiley I have heard that you can transfer them to altered books, collages?

I can not for the life of me remember where I've seen this.. but somebody made a room divider out of old slides.. He put a tiny hole in the tops and bottoms of each and then unbent a paper clip most of the way so it looked basically like (_______) and hooked an end into the top and bottom of a slide (I'm sure you could use thread or yarn or something else too)
Anyways.. he connected them all into one huge sheet and made a really cool room divider for his kitchen/dining room. The light from one of his windows shone through it a bit and it made the slides look amazing!

what a great find! I'm so jealous  Wink

Instead of doing a whole curtain, you could link just a few together and make them into slide suncatchers. You could also frame your favorites with two pieces of glass so light could shine through. I really like the idea of using the postage stamp tutorial for this, or even making a bracelet with them. Other people wouldn't really see it well, but it'd be your personal surprise to hold up to the light and see!

Oh, you guys are amazing, I am going to hunt at the thrift for a glass-topped table and try that table idea! I need a coffee table anyway! the room divider thing is also good. I haven't heard of the postage stamp thing before, I'll go do a search for it....

For the person who hadn't heard of the lamp tutorial, do a search here on craftster for "slide". There a re a few people who posted how to make lampshades out of slides! Keep the ideas coming, y'all, you are so helpful!!!  Grin

good luck with the room divider, if you have some left over, you should really put them together as a suncatcher...  I recently found my slides from college,  they were in their slide sheets,  I hung them up in the window, and really love the look,  the brightest most colorful ones are best...

Fantastic! I was just going to start a thread which said...

OMG I found all these slides in a skip what can I do with them?

and here you all are! Sadly all the slides I found (it was the too-cool metal boxes I really went for, the slides inside were just a bonus) are of stately homes and old cars. My bro and I looked through and thought OMG what BORING slides! lol!  I bet these were thrown on the trash with great venom, by some bitter son or daughter remembering a childhood of being forced to look through the damn things Cheesy

Anyway, cheers for the ideas, the room divider sounds cool, although our rooms are way too small to be divided into anything other than cupboards - lol

Any more ideas for crafting with really dull slides?
