I've been working on this design for a few weeks now. I merged a couple of clip art into the butcher-knife-through-the-heart design, hand-drew the blood drips, inlaid it in a beer cap with resin, made the charms from pet-6 recyclable takeout container lids (hand drawn), and put it all together. The rondelles on the dangles are garnet. I have since painted the backside of the skull white with goopy old nail polish to give it gradations of whiteness from the lumpy texture.

What do you think??  Smiley

Sweet.  Wonderfully dark.

And I've been looking all over for knife and gun charms - you just gave me the great and obvious idea of making my own. Tongue

Human rights are for EVERYONE.  Did you know that Aung San Suu Kyi had been released from house arrest in Burma? Many other prisoners of conscience are still being detained.  Please research this topic... Amnesty International needs your help.

Thanks!
Yeah I looked and looked for affordable gun and knife charms forever. Thanks to the inspiration here, it finally hit me that shrink plastic was the answer!

(BTW, I made six of these, and am not opposed to personal swaps. I'm only a PM away......)

Too cute! I just started playing with shrink plastic this week and so far I've only made little Dharma fish biscuits (gotta love lost!)

I really like it.  I bought some butcher knife charms awhile back and they were pricey!

I have to get this off my mind... I work at Northern Illinois University aka NIU, and after our horrific act on our campus on 14 February 2008, this piece really hits home.  Just had to get this off my mind... I still love this piece though.  Perhaps after I get over some of my grief, I can stitch something for you to trade, save me one!  =)

A couple people where I work have requested this design but with a bigger graphic in the bottlecap. Anybody know an easy way to splay out the crimps of the bottlecap some without totally flattening it?? Hmmm. :/

I have only seen them really flat and I personally think the caps loose their charm this way.

To each her own.

I prefer them to have the bottlecap shape, it keeps their character intact, IMHO. That's why I want to only splay them a bit when inserting a larger image.
