we are expecting a little boy in may and this is our first. i'm so excited since i've been crafting for friends' little ones in the past year and now i get to make things for my own little one! we are so thrilled and i've been coming up with ideas left and right!! i'll try to document my progress of the nursery in this post...hope you don't mind me sharing with you all!!

okay, so i didn't want an overly masculine baby boy's room, but i also didn't want baby blue all over the place either. it took me FOREVER to decide on the fabrics, but i finally managed to pick out a fun and bright striped pattern and pulled my paint color from there. the paint is more of an aqua green/blue...than just light blue.

here's my progress so far...

hubby did a GREAT job painting. the room's a mess...but it's a start!

the other (empty) side of the room. i will be adding white shelving and artwork...and of course we're still in need of a dresser.

yay! done with the cribskirt. it just lays flat with a box pleat in the center of each side.

crib bumper...wip:

crib ties...couldn't decide on shiny ribbon or fabric ties...i'm leaning towards the fabric ties:

pinning baby quilt:

free-motion quilting:

now all i have left is curtains, pillows, nursing cover, boppy cover, baby mobile, diaper bag......*sigh*

as i posted this i realized that there's not much decorating going on just yet....but more of making the individual pieces. i will continue to update with more pictures until the nursery is all done!! Smiley

thanks for looking!

feb 22, 2008 update

i've finished the bumper!

fabric ties Smiley

anti-pill fleece on the inside.

future bunting banner

feb 27, 2008 update

bunting banner all done!

pillow for my swivel rocker (the quilt was purchased from notneutral)

the back of the pillow. the fabrics are crossed over at one of the orange stripes so i can remove it for washing.

march 30, 2008 updated

overall view as you enter the room

crib wall with shag disney print and small shelf with stuffies! the car's made by me and the wonky bunny on the right was a combination effort randomly made by a friend and i....we were feeling silly while sewing that day. Smiley

dresser and swivel chair with 2 shelves over the changing area.

closet wall...the orange painting made by me...along with the bunting.

hubby's teddy when he was a baby is sitting on the changing pad. little sock monster and skelly bunny made my a friend on the far left corner. big birdhouse painted by a friend for the baby shower centerpieces

bunting flags with little birdhouses...painted by a friend and were decorations from the baby shower.

swivel chair and painting by me above...i need to put that darn curtain up!!!

close up of the shelf above the crib

the nursery was recently featured on ohdeedoh.com thought i would share it with you:

Lol, good luck! The list always seems endless. My son is 9 months and I still have an endless list  Embarrassed.

It's looking really great though, I can't wait to see the finished project. I love the colours and the stripey fabric, I always hated the endless baby blue.

Congrats on your upcoming motherhood! I love the stripped fabric you've chosen, and I think the fabric ties work the best. Keep updating and have fun "nesting"!

This is lovely. Orange and Aqua look fantastic together.
I agree with your leaning - towards the fabric ties.

Also, that painting of the sun and hills is so cute! maybe I could steal your idea for a painting of my own ?

I love the fasbric you chose, those are great colors. Warm & Bright with good contrast!!

PLEASE go witht he fabric ties. Tiny little baby teeh can be sharp, my nepwhed nawed on a ribbon a teddy bear & it shredded, he was swallowing little stings...  that couild be very bad!!

I love-love-love your color scheme! Your kid's gonna be so happy!

(I painted my last room (before moving) in about the same color. It made me feel as if I was in a swimming pool all the time. I loved it!)

Yay for Germlish!
