Okay...so I got a lot of buzz a while back from my post about my Swiffer covers. http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=187855.msg1969724#msg1969724

So, my question is...do you think these would sell? I was thinking of opening up an etsy shop & selling these (along with some other things...perhaps reusable grocery bags?). Here are a couple other ones I've made:

I was also thinking about maybe selling some knitted/crocheted washcloths too.

So, my questions are:
1-Would you buy this?
2-Should I sell them in sets? How many to a set? (I was thinking 2-3)
3-How much would you pay for 1, 2, or 3?

Anyway...any advice would really help me out. I'm very new to the whole crafting business, and I'm super worried that I will charge too much or...eek, fail.  Undecided

Thanks in advance for reading my post & any advice/comments! Kiss

Hi,

Is this a cover for those "duster things" ? Wasn't really sure sooo one thing I would want is a photo with the cover in use.

Don't know about prices or anything though, sorry I can't be of more help to you.

It's for when you wet mop, but yes...it's the same mop. Here are a couple of pictures of the first one I made:

I, personally, really like them.  I'm not in the market for much of anything right now but if I was, I would look into getting some. My only constructive criticism would be to see if you can tighten up the sides a bit. They look... wavy.  I think it would look a bit more polished if it looked straighter.

For pricing, I just suggest what I always suggest: look at the FAQ about pricing and start from there.

Yea, I have been trying to straighten the sides up some. It's hard to combine knitting and crochet.  Roll Eyes

Where is the FAQ you speak of? Huh

In the main Crafty Business Advice board
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=143666.0

There's also a sticky about pricing in this board (same info).

My questions would be:

Does it really, really get clean in the wash?
How does the yarn affect the velcro thing on the mop? Is it going to get all fuzzy and impossible to use (therefore, impossible for the yarn thing to stay in place?)

The yarn sticks to the velcro, thus keeping the pad in place. The yarn, surprisingly enough, doesn't get very fuzzy. It gets pretty clean in the wash...not 100%, but I've bleached the same cotton & it came about 95% clean. It works really well!

One more bit of advice that I don't think has been mentioned... be sure to search on Etsy and see what the current market/current listings are like.  I did a quick search for "Swiffer" and here ares some:  http://www.etsy.com/search_results.php?search_type=tag_title&search_query=swiffer

Ask yourself... What can I do to get people to buy my pieces instead of the ones that are already on Etsy?  Maybe...
  • Your pricepoint
  • Your packaging
  • Free shipping

Or maybe something totally different!  Maybe you could add in some extra feature or goodie that none of the others have included already.  What about including a little hanging pouch to store the extras from a set while not in use?  Maybe a matching dish cloth?

Just spewing ideas... Cheesy
