I haven't posted for a while. I bought a Laser Engraver a few months ago, and have been working on some new designs.
This is an Olive Wood pen, with a deeply engraved Claddagh design.
See what you think.

wow that's awesome.  so many questions though!  What else have you done?  Do you purchase those pens for the purpose of engraving?  do you draw your own design and have the engraver machine do it?  where do you get one of those machines?

I make the pens on a wood lathe. I drew the Claddagh pattern using Corel Draw. The Laser Engraver is an Epilog Helix 45 watt.
The laser interprets dark as deep and light as shallow, so the design has to be created with the right shades of gray in order to get a nice 3d engraving.
