For years, all I knitted were scarves and pillow-type things -- super simple stuff that was just an excuse to have pretty yarn.

For some reason the last few months, I've stepped up my knitting; making an afghan for my parents on jumbo needles, then a TV throw for a friend in super-friendly tonal boucle.

This is my first -- for lack of a better phrase -- "big girl project".  It's a 39" x 43" baby afghan in "guacamole" super soft yarn, in a 'fans and lace' pattern I saw in a book.  I made it for my college buddy's first child, who arrived early -- which is why it's a little shorter than I meant it to be!

A bad big picture:

A better picture of the pattern:

I get so much inspiration looking at all the wonderful things the folks here produce, I just wanted to share my little accomplishment!

That's gorgeous, I love the colour!  Was it difficult to knit?  I'm sure it will be very well received.

It actually is a pretty simple stitch -- nothing more complicated than yarn-over and purling stiches together.  It took about three weeks of working an hour or two of knitting every night.  And taking it to the laundromat....

The color is really nice.  I'm not sure why there's such a pink tint in the pictures, but it's a really rich guacamole green.  (I didn't want the traditional baby boy blue!)

I was glad to get it off the needles and into the mail, tho.  My cat was developing an unhealthy fascination with it, and stole it off the table several times.

I love your blanket. I wanted to make one too, with this model , but I think it would take very much time.

Now I want to make with yours!
