I was just thinking about an idea. I don't know if it has been discussed or not but if so please delete this thread. I really want to make my son some clothes. ANYTHING. Overalls, hoodie, pants, anything. But I get so distracted making my daughter clothes and so intimidated by boys clothes that I don't even attempt. I know there are other people out there who want to learn how to do resin or make purses, or another craft, etc. I was thinking we could help motivate the other person by getting all the supplies for them.

For example, Betty makes resin necklaces and rings all the time but wants to learn how to make a hoodie for her son, Suzie makes clothes for her sons all the time but wants to learn how to make resin necklaces. So Suzie will send all the supplies to make a resin necklace along with drawings, tutorials, tips etc to Betty and Betty will send some fabric, pattern, notions and tips and techniques for making a hoodie to Suzie. Does this make sense to anybody? Or am I the only person with a motivational problem or that gets intimidated easily?

I love this idea! But... I haven't been a member long enough to participate in a swap! Sad ( If you can delay the sign-ups until mid-March, I should be able to!)

Great idea! I could set someone up with a homemade drop spindle and some fiber to learn to spin their own yarn, and I would love to learn something new as well! I would definitely be interested in this one!!!

I organized a swap like this a while back...called Low Pressure Try a New Craft Swap. We actually teamed up two people who wanted to learn the same thing, and then gave them a "mentor" who was a pro to coach them. So, the newbie crocheters sent crochet items to each other, and a small thank you to their pro crochet mentor. The idea was so that people weren't worried about say, a new jewelry maker being intimidated to send their first try at jewelry to a pro jewelry maker.

In theory it was a good idea, but it didn't work out so well since you need a ton of people to sign up in a wide variety of new crafts. Although, we did have an overwhelming amount of mentors volunteer, that was the best part, we had pretty much every craft imaginable of awesome craftsters willing to volunteer to mentor!

I'm not wanting to run another round of this right now, but feel free to take any of the ideas/info off the swap page.

I make novelty melt and pour soaps. I could get someone started with an easy soap that is pretty.

I'm starting to crochet and need help with the different weights, and some terminology. I want to make more amigurumi and learn to make tawashi.

I am finishing up my first swap so I'm not yet able to join.
