Used about half skein of Berroco Ultra Alpaca.

I began the hat by using the free pattern on the Lion Brand website and then for the decreases I consulted Wendy Bernard's (knit and tonic) last minute purled beret.

I really like that beret!  I would make one like that in a heartbeat.  And it didn't take much yarn, that's nice.
