oh, and my favorite fae books etc...

WAR FOR THE OAKS by Emma Bull... TELL ME someone else has read this gem.

Also, Prattchet and Gaimen.

The Princess Bride, and Ever After are great...

But my very favorites are Grimm.  I love the old ones, Grimm and Anderson etc. I don't think anyone will ever match the Grimm Brothers

Oh!  I never thought of The Princess Bride! Awesome!  I am totally with you on the Brothers Grimm Smiley

Princess Bride=one of my all time favorites!!!!  I'm def. more into the classic stories of Grimm and such.  I would love to try a lot of the stories and authors everyone has mentioned but I've never even heard of most of them, so hopefully some day I can read some.  I need to make a list of all the books/authors so that some day when I catch up on my list of books to read I can get to those  Smiley  In the meantime, I'm hopelessly in love with the classics and the populars, call me stream line but I just haven't been properly introduced to these other ones  Embarrassed

Yay,another fan! Have you read Emma Bull's other books? Pratchett,Gaimen,Princess Bride-gosh,you have good taste Grin
Andrew Lang fairy tale books, anyone? The Snow Queen?
I bought lots of funny feminist picture books for my girl-Princess SmartyPants(Hilarious!),the Paper Bag Princess,Rumplestiltskin's Daughter, and this great cinderella one I can't remember the name of-oh,yeah,-Cinder Edna.I love Cinder Edna. She doesn't whine and wait to be rescued.Put a dress on layaway, runs out at midnight-but to catch the last bus home-it shows both her and cinderella at the same ball. That being said,I do love the old traditional tales. And I'm a sucker for vintage illustrations.

Why thank you!  you as well.

and I forgot to add Gail Carsen Levine.  The author of Ella Enchanted and the other princess books.  Since you like the paper bag princess you might really really like these, and their really great for young girls too.

Remember the movie fairy tale...or something. About the two little girls who build the house for the fairies...and the paper and something...I can't remember it entirely...

I just remember the fairies, lol.

I used to love one called "Petronella" when I was a kid...as a tomboy who loved fairytales, this one really spoke to me. Smiley

Anyone ever read "FableHaven" by Brandon Mull?  That's another good one for the 'to read' list!
