Blue/Green Melted Bead Lampshade

I've always been leery of melting plastic bc we live in an apartment building and our alarm goes off over burnt toast. But after seeing this I think I'm going to take a chance now. It's absolutely gorgeous sweets4ever. I've been wondering what I could put in my living room to bring together a red couch and orange chair and I think I've found it!!! A nice way to spice up cheap Target floor lamps! You rock!!!

omg woman!you have me melting anything and everything everyone thinks i have gone crazy!i have MILLIONS of mardi gras beads.......looks like i will be stinking up the kitchen tonight!

I love this! I had no idea beads could be melted like that.  I'd try it, but I live in a small ranch house with a toddler and am not too keen on us passing out from the smell.  How long does it take for the smell to go away?

I love this! I had no idea beads could be melted like that.  I'd try it, but I live in a small ranch house with a toddler and am not too keen on us passing out from the smell.  How long does it take for the smell to go away? 

It smells the entire time it's baking and maybe a half an hour or so after.  I use the turbo exhaust on our microwave above the oven, and open a nearby window (and door in the summer) to ventilate it pretty quickly.

 i don't want the fumes around the baby, so i am soooo jealous, because i can't do this craft! well, that and it looks fantastic, my first attempts were not!
 but we just got a new toaster oven, so i'm hereby claiming the other one for melting in my studio! yeaa for inspiration!
