I bought this issue of knit simple because i absolutely fell in love with the afghan! The knitted one is very pretty but i didn't like the idea of the knitted border and i also wanted to be able to finish it during a 2 week christmas/new years vacation so i went with the crocheted version. I used all vanna's choice yarn, though i had a slight color deviation due to me forgetting to buy one color and instead buying a different one. Oh well, i think my blanket turned out just fine! In fact it's my most favorite crochet project to date!

time for the close up

i omitted the lacey border and just did 2 rows of single crochet around. I like the way it matches the single crocheted stripes. I also omitted one of the pinks and subbed in a brown, completely on accident. I loved the color scheme in the pattern and was trying to copy it but i forgot the pattern when i went to buy yarn and ended up with a wrong color. Oh well!

thank you! you can really see the changes in the second pic where the 2 big brown stripes meet up. The brown definitely gave my afghan an overall darker feel than the original but its still colorful and fun.

I really like that a lot. My mom crocheted 7 afghans for Xmas this year. And of course, you know it was Vanna yarn. She has such great colors and I really like the combo you chose!  Smiley

Ooo i love the colours. Great pattern, and I like it better without the lacy border - makes it cool and contemporary. Great job Smiley

thanks! I really love the vanna's choice yarn, usually when it's a celebrity product it tends to be cheesy and hokey but i really hope this yarn sticks around, its pretty soft and comes in waaaaaay better colors than caron simply soft!

I like your color scheme and no-lacey border better than the original!  Very nice!
