I'm ignoring the limit we set on valentines day and buying the boyfriend an iPod nano (8g) in black, the nike+ kit with an armband/shoe pouch.

Ideally, I would have had it engraved, but I know he's been wanting an iPod touch, so I'm worried that he'll exchange it, pay the extra 100 bucks and get the touch (I didn't want to spend THAT much extra, so I didn't do that myself).  AND he's already threatened that if I go over our limit that he'll return his gift.

So, how do I make this a little more personal than, "hey, i spent a bunch of money on you and you should probably start running again now," ?

I've thought about putting some things on it, like our song, the first movie we went to in the theatre or some inside joke stuff.

Any other ideas?  Thanks in advance.  You guys have the best ideas.

You should put your guys' favorite movie on it along with the songs and stuff. Or you could make him a personalized case for it. I know that they make those clear plastic cases. You can do all sorts of stuff with that(paint, bead, decoupage a picture of you guys together, etc...)
Well good luck. I hope the ideas help.

I will happily do personal swaps for beads, buttons, and fat quarters!

i agree with the above. get a clear hard case and cut out cute paper that reminds you of him or a photo of the two of you and put it under the case.

I think an ipod cozy is in order..
you can make one out of fabric, can crochet one or knit one... just search the message boards for ipod cozy
there are lots out there.
