Hey, I live here in Louisville and I was wondering if anyone knew any good fabric stores around town.  Hopefully the south or east end or on Bardstown.  I'm looking for something a little different.  I'm kind of tired of Dee's and Hancocks and such.

Thanks! Grin

The obvious first answer is Baer's on Market St. downtown. If you're looking for quilt fabric, there is a little shop inside Mid City Mall called Forget Me Not. There's another quilt shop I like in J-town, on Taylorsville Rd. It's called Among Friends. There's a shop on Frankfort Ave. called 2023 that I like for lots of stuff and sometimes I find great mid-century fabric there. I haven't been there in a while, so I'm not sure whether she's carrying fabric there anymore.
Hope this helps!

I'm out there busting my buns every night. Tell your old man to drag Walton and Lanier up and down the court for 48 minutes.

Baer's is no more... RIP Baer's, you served me well. Your boxes of buttons, your musty bargin bins, your random displays of temporary tattoos...Gone.

So now there is a rather lackluster selection of fabric stores in the Greater Louisville area, in my opinion. I also am sick of Dee's and Hancock. Everytime I go into Hancock, no matter what location, I feel like the staff is unhelpful and if you're working on a project that is anything other than quilting or garment-making from a pattern, then they are relatively clueless as how to help you. Grrr.

Really I just store-hop for fabrics and I have no allegiance to any. Recently a Hobby Lobby came to be on Breckinridge. Their selection is a bit crap and they can be overpriced, but it's good in a pinch and it is an all-encompassing craft store, so they have a lot of other fun things there. Oh, and they do have regular sales on fabric, so you can find some good deals here and there.

there's a joanns that just opened up near St. Matthew's Mall, and I believe by Trinity high school where the Vogue theatre used to be, there's a store called Sew Vain in the back. I have only driven past there, though.
