Mittens I made for my friend's birthday. I'm happy to say she actually wears them.  ^.^
They're my own pattern, but I mostly made them up as I went, then made them extra special by adding a cabled cuff which I got from some Knitty pattern. The yarn changes tones of blue, and as soon as I finished I was sad to see them go, but I think I'll just have to make a new pair for myself.

They're amazing! Which pattern did you get the cables from?

If all our life is but a dream, fantastic posing greed
Then we should feed our jewelry to the sea
For diamonds do appear to be
Just like broken glass to me.

The northern downpour sends its love.

I used the cable pattern from this knitty pattern for a cardigan: http://knitty.com/ISSUEfall05/PATTsamus.html (at the bottom for the sleeves) and basically had to use the pattern one and one half times to go all the way around my wrist, I put the seam on the bottom of the glove, so you can't tell that the cables don't actually match up. The cable was easy to get used to too, though it's rather intimidating to look at.
Good Luck if you're going to try it! ^.^
