Great idea and a great way to re-use old clothes. Smiley

Hey I love this idea and am dying to make one for my new apartment. I am a newer crocheter and I was wondering if you had any suggestions on how and when to know where to add stitches and what not. I know you have to add stitches to make it go around, would a smaller pattern for a circular mat work on a larger scale like this?

What would you suggest. And sorry if this is a dumb question.

Thnx

i kind of made it up as i went along, i was stuck in a warehouse behind a booth with no pattern. But i think you could definitely use a smaller scale project to help you figure out where to place your increases. I put mine every few stitches, and when it started getting too floppy i ripped back and spaced them farther apart... not very time efficient but it worked for me.

Ooh, this is the first re-use project I've seen that has made me tempted to do something similar myself! Since I am also a crochet newbie, I'll have trouble figuring out where to increase...

just two afternoons at the makerfaire. I ripped back several times so i'd say it probably took me 5 hours  if i hadn't ripped but it actually took me about 8
