Sigh! I've been registered on Craftster since Jan 15, 2005, and I really REALLY wanted to do something special to commemorate our lasting and loving relationship, but I just couldn't get myself TOGETHER!!!

So, here they are, a month late (but I LOVED using up not only the old books, which are a Friends of the Library project, but also the pictures from old catalogues and magazines, which seemed just perfect for this sort of thing):

Cut on a bandsaw, and either painted or decoupaged (or both) on the inside:

This is what they look like on the outside, both before and after:

My inspiration (these will go into their bookstore at the library to try to raise funds for assorted library projects):

Oh these are awesome. I love the shark one, the goose one & the green one ! They're fabulous.

Would you mind informing me on how to do this ? I'm sure it's all just xacto (spell) knives & glue or something, but I'm very tired right now. So if you wouldn't mind. !?

I really like how you made the cavities arched at the top.  They look a bit like shrines.  Shrines for hiding stuff.

The Jaws one is amusing...you think you are going to merely read a book...but don't go in the water, EEK!!!  Grin Nice work, I may try one of these out.

Arches are even a little bit easier to cut, too..... and none of those pesky corners to try to smoosh glue into, either!

Those are fantastic, I love them! What a great way to repurpose old books. I want to make one myself now *lol*

These are awesome. Unlike so many "hidden cavity" books, I like that you decorated the inside Smiley
