kill boredom...HOW?
«
on:
January 16, 2005 01:32:32 PM »
ok, i get bored alot, and i
never
have materials for making all the awesome stuff here. does anyone have any ideas that i could do with say, duct tape and ziplock bags, besides the given bag/purse? i already made that stuff on a snow day. i would
love
to use duct tape and tinfoil, you know, for something shiny, but nothing is coming to mind...i have literally no money to speak of, and my parents arent really the fund giving types, so anything with crap around the house would work. oh and i have TONS of felt, and i want to make a dress, but i
felt
dress? especially in this puke-hunting orange color...uggh. thanks in advance....

haha, yeah I've done that for the bud vase in my car!
They look really pretty when they're done (mine were just the standard silver).
I know this isnt really a craft, but when I was younger my brother and I used to make boats out of tin foil and seal them with tuck tape and sail them in the sink. who ever's lasted the longest was *dramatic voice* the ultimate ship builder. lol... it was fun...
Hmm.. crafts....
I was going to make a duct tape chord for our deputy commander in ROTC.. I dont think that's really of any help here...
may be just do something like that? like take a practical object out of your life and make one out of duck tape. I'm into nursing so I'd make a pouch out of duct tape and leave one panel open and tape in the zip-loc baggy there... string or something at the bottom like a tube... some sort of hanger device at the top... presto- a duct tape I.V. bag. I could hang it on the wall and put... stuff in it? may be hard candies. I don't know...

Be sure to check out the toys forum here on craftster. Lots of neat felt stuffies there. Many with patterns and how to's.
There's a neat messenger bag pattern somewhere on this site that uses/recycles a man's sport coat. It would be more time consuming without a sewing machine, but seems like it would be easy enough to do without one. Maybe your Dad's got one he doesn't use anymore he could let you have. Does he have any old ties he doesn't wear anymore? There's all kinds of neat projects that use old ties.
Sock monkeys? Use the felt to embellish a T-shirt or something?
Maybe volunteer for one of the crafting groups in your community. There are some in my area that sew, crochet and knit. I don't think you have to supply the materials just your time and talent. The groups here imake stuff for preemies, cancer patients, and Operation Toasty Toes(crochet/knit stuff for the troops to keep warm.) If you don't know how to make the stuff, it seems like a safe bet that if you were willing to help the cause, they would be willing to teach you how. Some groups have like old-fashioned bees/get-togethers and work together and in assembly-line fashion.

I don't know if you're old enough or able- but if you're reallllly bored, you could, you know, get a job. (I know that sounds bitchy, but it's just me being playful)
Maybe even at a craft store- discounts! At the very least a place where you could earn some cash to get some funds to build your evil craft supply for total world domination! bwahahaha.
