Well, my computer's only a couple of years old, and it says it has 496MB of RAM.  Is that good?

Hmm... That doesn't seem like a very small amount of RAM but I believe that new computers come with at least 1GB which is twice the amount you have. (BTW you probably have 512MB of RAM and not 496MB. Apparently Windows shows you a slightly lower number than you really have.)

It sounds like maybe your computer is sometimes running out of "virtual memory."

Here are a few easy things you could try:

1. Make sure you have lots of free hard drive space because if your computer runs out of space in RAM memory it will make of use some of your hard drive space.

2. Try not to have too many windows open at once and not too many applications open at once.

3. Make sure your browser it totally up to date because if you are using an older version, it might have a "memory leak" or something.

Here's some more info that might help:

Craftster is a very picture-heavy site and I happen to have 2GB of RAM so I've never had a problem like this but I can see how others might have the same problem you're having.

Thank you SO much!  I followed the directions on the website you posted the link to, and now it works like a charm.  As an added bonus, my computer runs faster now too!  Yay!

I have been browsing around through quite a few threads, and I see all these great projects featured on the homepage, however, when I click the thumbnail to go to the thread and see the rest of the photos, nothing shows up on the threads Sad  There are a bunch of large boxes with little X's on them.  Most of the time I am not the first person to have come to the thread, and there are MANY posts from others raving about the photos and how great the item looks.  I'm SOO bummed I cannot see what they are seeing and comment too!  What is wrong?  Is it my PC?  Is it the photos and where they are being posted and linked to by the poster?  This same issue is happening on so many of the tutorial threads as well, and I CANNOT follow directions without photos, I just CAN'T...I am a visual learning and have to be SHOWN how to do something, not just TOLD.  This image problem is really hindering me on here.  Someone please help me out on this, thanks!

I merged your thread with another of the same topic.  Could you read through this thread, follow Leah's advice and see if that helps you at all?

I can't alter anything on my work computer here...so none of that will apply on this computer.  I have yet to have time to access craftster at home, so I will try it there and see if I have the same problem and try to work on it with my own PC if I do...somehow I have a feeling it has to do with how they have our work PCs setup, and there is nothing I can do to change it right now...thanks for the merge!  Thought I was the only one that was having an issue.

Aw, that sucks! Sad  I hope it's just your work computer and you have full access at home.
