My state's caucus is today so yesterday I decided I needed a shirt to show my support of my candidate, Obama! I wasn't really feeling the idea of his face + Obama '08 so I decided to use one of his campaign slogans instead.

I've been really into big letters filling up an entire shirt lately, and although this doesn't quite achieve that I'm still pretty pleased with it. The colors in both these pictures aren't quite right, the shirt is really a teal color with dark blue lettering. I'll try to get a better picture today.

I'm totally stoked about today, this is my first time ever being able to take part in the whole election process. I'm totally obsessed!

Speaking of which, I made these buttons on Super Tuesday. (Late at night, I had to work that day, but I was listening to the radio for news of the results on all my breaks.)

My mom has been giving them out to everyone.

Those look great! What did you use to make the buttons, if you don't mind my asking?

Thanks guys! And it's always nice to hear support for Obama.

It was stenciled, I find this type of lettering is quite easy to do, especially this large. It really was an easy stencil to cut out.

itsnubs, that totally sucks you're not going to be able to vote. I've been waiting for this year for, well years. I first got interested in voting in middle school and it seemed to take soooo long to finally come. All my friends were excited to turn 18 to buy cigarettes and porn and I just wanted to register to vote.

The buttons are made using a badge-a-minit button maker, the 1 1/4 inch size. It's not the best kind, but they're cheap and pretty easy to use. They don't turn out perfect though. I'm thinking of getting a larger size one as well.

As a side note, I just got back from the caucus and the Obama support was pretty strong. I'm actually a delegate too, so the shirt and pins will see a lot more use! A lot of people were interested in the shirts and willing to pay to have me make one, and I've decided I'll make them for people for free if they provide a shirt and make a donation to the Obama campaign.

The shirt looks really sweet, and the buttons are great too.

I just have a few questions about the lettering: Which font/font size did you use? How did you print it out/write it out/measure it out to fit? In short, can you tell me how you did it please?? I really want to make a giant slogan shirt, but I'm still trying to wrap my head around it.. Wink

I think I actually used the "headline" in . . . . powerpoint, I think. I actually did 3 separate lines/pieces for it, and used powerpoint to get them lined up perfectly. Using the headline thingie get them space out like that and then I got them lined up. Then I copied the whole thing into paint to size it right (just esimated the number of pages that would fit on the shirt and kept checking print preview. This probably isn't making any sense. I printed it (4 pages) on freezer paper, taped them together and cut and stenciled as usual.

I'm sure that doesn't make much sense, if you need, I'd be happy to try to clarify that.

And thank you knitting_nyxxie, as much as I love a good political discussion, I know this is not the appropriate place for that and agree with craftster's policy on off-topic discussion. I would like to say however, if it's ok, that if anyone wants to have any off-topic discussion with me, I'd love to carry that on via PM.

Is that ok to say?
