My babies. they require as much attention as one...

the first one is made from a hand made mold, and colored with chili powder. (the chili powder colored one.) the whiter frosted glass one is filled with silver glass micro-marbles. and lots of shaping and sanding and playing with the surface.

white glitter in clear resin-

red frosted bangle- (it makes me want to eat it)

and if you're going to ask, the molds (except the one i made) were from that resin obsession lady on ebay. they even came with a note saying if i ever need help to contact her. it was my 1st purchase from her, she has a regular website and the ebay stuff, she rocks!

These are awesome! I LOVE the idea of chili powder. Have you tried other spices? Like...saffron? I bet that color would be pretty amazing!...also..have you tried fabric dyes in your resin? I'm curious if they stain after curing...

we have pathetically few spices to try, i only did chili powder cause it was the only pretty one i had! i bet saffron would look good though. i made that chili one a few months ago, then never reused the mold. i should make more spice pieces...
i was looking at fabric dye the other day. it seems like it should work. you could try it in a crayola shaped pendant... lol... if it didn't work you could spray seal it maybe? hmm, the ones i've used tons of dry paint pigment in, and certain embossing powders are okay, except where i file the back edge. on those i reseal that part after sanding it, or else i could write my name with the edge! but unless i sand them and expose the inside, they somehow get sealed on the outside while curing. one of us should try fabric dye! i assume you mean powdered? i'm scared to mix liquids in that aren't made for resin and ruin stuff!

I agree, the chili powder is great! I made a pendant with peppercorns. Those work well, too. Spices are fun!  Smiley  I'm going to have to look more closely at the spices next time I'm in the grocery store... Cheesy

thank you! it photographs well, but i have issues with it. nothing you can see in the pictures though! the chili bracelet just took 3 forevers to cure, then it was flat and not shiny because of the latex mold,  and i had to put a gloss coating on it, and then it's rounded on one side and not the other, at the edge... it's taken me a long time to see the beauty in it. it's pretty in a picture though! if i wasn't it's maker i'd probably like it more!

i was picturing peppercorns a few minutes ago when saffron was mentioned!  loose tea is one i want to try but i need to acquire the tea.

These are really pretty. I think the imperfections of a handmade item give them character and depth. It's unique, and thus cool!  Smiley I've wanted to try making something like these m'self, but I've been somewhat afraid to. You did a really great job with these!

OH MY.... these are incredible!!!! Holy cow... I love the chili powder one! Sheesh!

and I would LOVE to see loose tea in a pendant! That would be awesome, especially if it's a really floral tea with lotsa colors.

I bet it's a blast to just go resin-stuff-hunting, huh? You can put flippin' ANYTHING in that goop! Cheesy

I love the white glittery one, so gorgeous and snowy. We haven't had any snow this year, though it's only February and the flowers are only just coming out, so we should be due a nice late frost any day now...

Your bracelets are beautiful. The chili powder is my favorite. Can you tell me how you make them shiny after sanding.

LOL I have a bottle of scarlett fabric dye in liquid that I am SO tempted to try..it would only need one or two drops! I've heard of people using food coloring...I've tried art chalks and a cheese grater LMAO..but I couldn't get the tiny chalk particles to totally dissolve. I think I might try it this weekend with the fabric dye lol

finer sandpaper, lots of buffing, mod podge, acrylic spray, recoat with resin, diamond glaze... i like to recoat with resin if possible...

there is resin at michaels here, and a.c. moore, and of course any hardware store, but a hardware store won't have molds or anything...

and thanks everyone!  jenni74, try the dye!!!

funny that you are using spices..I have a gift giving book that I have been referring to lately and it explains the meaning of everything-objects,shapes,animals,herbs,flowers,numbers & yes even spices ..when giving a gift.So that more thought should go into the gift than just a random run to the mall..I was like wow-that would be cool to enclose some sort of symbolic meaning to the spice..like if chili pepper was known to help with depression a card could be added as part of the gift explaining that...

wonderful pieces..and photographed excellently..

I love them all but am particular fond of the white one.  I like the texture inside of it, if it were mine I would get lost staring at it LOL.  Saffron would be horribly expensive, how about turmeric?  I use it to make yellow rice with peas, and it dyes my plastic spoons a lovely golden color.

Have you ever tried Kool-aid powder? It's super cheap and there are a ton of amazing colors. I wonder how that would work out?

They're all great.  The silver beads are interesting, the red looks like a lifesaver.  I think the chili bracelet is the best.  Knowing it is chili powder makes it even better.  Makes me think about pairing it with red chili charm in some way.

Very nice!
