I've been missing Fall lately so I tried to cheer myself up by making a Fall inspired messenger.  Winging it was pretty easy.  The outside fabric is actually a placemat from a dollar store.  When I cut apart the placemats I found that they already had iron-on interfacing.  Talking about lucky!

Is the stitching for the velcro very noticeable?

Inside:

Excuse the wonky placed velcro. Tongue

***I wasn't totally satisfied so I appliqued some leaves to make it more "Fall-ish".  Note to self - choose something else besides leaves for first applique project!

I couldn't see the velcro stitching in the picture.  I wouldn't worry about it.  I love the color of the beg!  Very nice.  I've considered using place matts to make a purse but haven't done it yet.  Thanks for the inspiration!

Thanks b2j2fitz and Diesels_Mom!  I didn't know about the fusible velcro, just of the self adhesive junk.

well if that is your first applique job you did outstanding! Sometimes it's best just to jump in with both feet Wink I love the fall look of the bag and great job on the finish of the inside.

I surprised myself with the appliques.  I didn't include a pic of the lone leaf because well.....whoa.  Its all raggedy looking, lol.

All I did was attach the leaves using fusible webbing and then used a satin stitch on the edges.  It took some time, but it was well worth it.

Fall has my favorite colors, but Spring has my favorite flowers!  Too much thinking involved to pick a favorite season so.... I love all the seasons, except for Summer.  It just gets too hot down here in the Deep South.
