This is my first purse I've ever made. It was really fun to make and pick out the fabrics. I was worried at first that my stuff would fall out without a zipper or flap over the opening, but so far so good.

I didn't follow a pattern, just drafted it out on graph paper and went for it.

The grommets are a great idea for attaching your handles.  It's nice to see something outside the ordinary type of handles.  I like it!

I got the grommets at a little fabric store in St. Louis called Jackmans Fabric's.  There's only 3 stores.  It's a really small place and their prices are usually high, but sometimes they've got some good stuff.

Cute!  Be careful - you'll be like me soon and having to sneak fabric into the house.  My kids will come in and say "Are you making ANOTHER bag?!?"  LOL

I love the grommets too!

Very cute I love the grommets. Home depot and lowes sell big grommets too as well as the tool to set them. I just made curtains and had to put 48 grommets in them.

She'scrafty, I was so surprized to read Jackmans being mentioned I live about 40 min west of St. Louis. I haven't been in a Jackmans since I stopped sewing for bridal parties but it sure was a fun store to browse. Love your purse, great job, hard to believe it's your first. Now this might sound silly but Wal-mart usually has grommets in their sewing dept. if they still have one for less than a fabric store. But I'm going to be checking out that Lowe's/Home Depot tip who would have thought that they'd have them! lol

I like the way you made your handles.  The grommets and belting look really nice with the rest of the bag.

Lowes and home depot are a sewers paradise! I have bought the grommet kit there, screening I have made into a bag, they have all kinds of ropes to use for handles. Blue painters tape for marking seam lines, they have vinyls. My newest thing is a riveter, like they have in blue jeans, I used it to rivet some purse handles onto a bag. They also have heavy duty snap kits ( way better then the drtz crap ) and webbing as well.
