I'm working on this now... I am 3 3/4 inches from cast on to live stitches. I'm using a really soft acrylic yarn in a nice gray color, so that when my friend has her baby (in 34-36 weeks lol) I can just add a bit of blue if its a boy, and a LOT of pink if its a girl. Either way, it will be a nice unisex color. I can't wait to finish it. I agree that the pattern is great! Smiley

Thanks everybody for the feedback! I can't wait for my friend's baby to be born, I hope she likes it. I am now thinking of making a little pair of booties with the leftover yarn... Any ideas??

Maybe you could take the pattern from the front panel, and put it up either side of the sock by knitting more plain rows between the left and right column??? like, not the foot part, but the part that goes up the lower leg? sorry I don't yet speak sock lingo.

you did such a beautiful job! This is definately the kind of pattern where I wish in came in tall people sizes. I love the color too. very earthy. In my opinion green is a gender neutral color. No one looks at trees and grass and thinks "hot damn! that color of that plant is mighty manly/girly!!"

There needs to be babies in my life so I can make this.
