Gimme all your yarn & nobody gets hurt!

it's been more than a year since a friend asked me to make him a tam with a bill, & i finally did it! Grin  the day he came over i had just seen patchworkarmy's version (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=22332.0) & thought it would be fun to make.

since it took so long & i had plenty of yarn, i threw in a matching scarf & a wrist cuff.  i made the wrist cuff after i took the pics, but it's made just like the scarf only sans tassels & much shorter, lol.

I used a mix of SC, HDC, & DC to get the stripes.  i think i used a K hook, but it might have been an H.  the yarns were Red Heart Aran Fleck, Caron Perfect Match Espresso, & some unlabeled camo yarn a friend gave me after frogging a scarf he gave up on.  the camo was a mid-project decision, but i love how it turned out.  i think it's what really makes it imho.  keeps it from being ho-hum.  he only told me he like earthy colors & wanted the hat big.  what's earthier than camoflage?

here's the hat & scarf (i stuffed the hat to show it's size when i sent him pics.)

here's a detail shot of the brim & band

aerial view of the hat - 12in diameter laid flat

& a detail of the scarf - 92in long! (not incl the masculine tassels)

the scarf was done with DC starting in the middle & working the fleck on either side, then trimming it with the camo in SC.  oh, i started & ended both fleck rows with HDC to round it out.

hope you like it! Cheesy
