Kay, so here is the first product of my new spindle (thanks so much, LizzieMcguire!)
Yeah. It's not that great, really uneven, overspun in some places, underspun in others.  Smells rather strongly of barn.  However, I love it.

I have been a crummy friend!

Sewknitter sent me the most amazing package and I have yet to post up pics - I am organizing a big swap and it just sucked me right in the past few days which I know is a miserable excuse but hey, it is MY excuse right?  Cheesy

Not true! We've both been busy with other swaps. I have 2 invite your partner swaps to finish and the yarn scavenger swap.

anyhoooooo....
I asked sewknitter to be my partner for this round - we have crossed paths here or there but never got a chance to get to know each other - and I tell you what I am glad that we are getting to know each other now!  We have a ton in common. I swear we might as well have sent ourselves packages more or less!

I've been a Bond/knitting machine dealer since 1983 and she works for Bond/Caron, so talk about crossing paths. She knits, I knit, c-deb sews, embroiders, I sew & embroider.

Deb is much more goth than I am, - I like black, but more classic black things.
She gardens, and I like LOOKING at gardens, lol. (giant purple thumb here.)

Deb's 1st package came back with some damage, so I replaced the water marked things and since I had her package (and knew more stuff about Deb, I added more.)

Now onto the 2nd package. I have lots of ideas, and this should be fun!

Glad you are enjoying the swap as much as I am -- thanks for thinking to invite me!

Calluna sent me the first half of my second package, for use on the airplane to London!
She sent 2 spindles, and a large braid of roving Smiley  I haven't been able to keep my hands off it- spinning has turned out to be so satisfying and surprisingly fast paced.
It's been a lot of fun to learn!

(Not the most consistant yarn yet, but I'm learning!)

The roving Calluna sent looks like the mane of a unicorn!

This has been a wonderfully fun way to kill time in airports!
Thank you, again, Calluna!

I'm a new spinner too and I LOVE it!  That is beautiful roving!

The roving Calluna sent looks like the mane of a unicorn!

I agree; it makes me think of My Little Pony...hehe.  Good luck with your spinning!

I hear you on wanting more hours. That's kind of what I was thinking before, and then I went ahead and said I wanted to learn it anyway, and it turned out to be a surprisingly rapid process.
