I am way too obsessed with work, so I made this item, combing several of my resolutions:

1. Produce less waste: This is a T-Shirt recon. All other fabrics/materials were left overs from other projects. I purchased nothing.
2. Work is not my LIFE!!! Do things I enjoy OUTSIDE of work. AKA: Craft More.
3. Craft for MYSELF some. It won't kill ya.

Ok, I started with a HUGE shirt. I'm a HUGE MASH fan, so I couldn't get rid of it, but I've only worn it once, and it's just too big.

In addition to the shirt, I had some left over stiff black fabric from another project and two small pieces of bamboo from yet another project. I had been holding onto them for....probably FOUR YEARS. I knew I would use them for SOMETHING!!!

Put that together with my major need for a project bag (plastic bags just don't cut it!):

I think it's difficult to tell from the pics, but the bottom is squared off so that it sits flat.

I used the sleeves for inside pockets:

All in all, I'm very excited about it! Everything I used was almost trash (I say "almost" because I craft. Few things are actually trash!). Anything I can save from the can and make into something useful makes me happy!

Honestly, I love it! After I made it, I couldn't stop staring at it!

Then, I had another idea and added yarn guides. When planning, I was worried: maybe I would sometimes want to take the yarn out!!! So, the guides snap to the main bag and are removable.

Closer view:

All in all, I am VERY pleased with the outcome!

This is great!! I'm not a knitter (yet) but I think your snap on guides are cool! This is something that Klinger would have matched with a nice day dress Tongue

So you, could spend the morning walkin with me, quite amazed. As I am unwashed and somewhat slightly dazed.

How creative! It makes me wish I hadn't given away all my old band t-shirts that were too small to my little sister now. Could have recycled them in such a lovely way!

it's a cool bag and all, i just don't see how it helps you with any of your resolutions...

I explained at the beginning of my post, but I'll review:

1. The bag itself was a T-shirt that was never used--hence trash. The sames goes with the remainder of the material. By using these items instead of throwing them away, I lesson my impact. Not tons granted, but it's a start. Plus, it encourages me to find uses for other items I might normally discard in the future. In the past, I would use an old plastic bag for my projects. Now I have something more sturdy & reliable, as well something that is reusable much more so than any plastic bag could ever be.

2. Having a project bag where I can have everything organized makes it easier to craft and encourages me to do it more often. It's more difficult to make excuses, and easier to do something I enjoy.

3. Same as many, I tend to do things for others and put myself on the back burner. There will always be time for me later, right? I'm not saying I'm a martyr by any means, but we all deserve something for ourselves from time to time. My resolution to make more time for myself also means making things for myself that make my life easier, more enjoyable or just plain better looking. This bag makes me happy when I look at it and gives me a sense of pride. It may not be much to your or anyone else, but that's just it: it doesn't have to be. I made it completely with me in mind.

Hope that clears it up a bit. If you have any more questions, just ask!

I'm not in the dark about the resolution keeping-it is a great solution. Especially about the producing less waste, I am doing the same! Great bag.
